Lady Gaga World Tour to Kick Off in February

One of 2009's top-selling artists will be taking her act to Australia, Japan and Europe for a series of dates beginning and February and lasting a few months.
Before that, though, the dynamic Lady Gaga will be at Radio City Music Hall to conclude the current segment her tour with four shows starting January 20.
It's a fitting place for the native New Yorker to perform!
If you haven't seen Lady Gaga live before, you're in for a treat. The best way we can sum it up? She does her best to replicate her music videos in concert.
In the case of "Bad Romance," that is quite something ...

Dr. Conrad Murray Lawyers Up For MJ Trial

With the Michael Jackson homicide investigation complete and Dr. Conrad Murray almost certain to face charges as a result, he's lawyering up in a major way.
Murray has been the focal point of police inquiries since day one. Now that he's looking at criminal charges, he's enlisted J. Michael Flanagan. For a big reason.
Flanagan says he is the best - or even the only - attorney to try a case involving Propofol and death. That's the anesthesia police believe killed Michael Jackson.
In 2004, Flanagan defended a nurse charged with involuntary manslaughter for wrongly administering Propofol to a patient who later died. She was acquitted.
Of the case against Dr. Conrad Murray, Flanagan says he is "unaware of facts that would give rise to an involuntary manslaughter charge." But it could happen.

The attorney also says Murray won't even discuss plea bargaining, because the L.A. County D.A.'s office won't share any information about the case ... yet.
Murray has not been charged with anything as of now. However, there remains a strong likelihood of a manslaughter charge (not murder) in the coming weeks.
Flanagan says Murray broke no laws and it will be "very difficult" for the D.A. to base a case on gross negligence, a requirement for involuntary manslaughter.
As Flanagan puts it, even if there's proof of "an error in judgment," it's a giant leap for a jury to conclude that lapse of judgment constitutes manslaughter.
Conversely, the LAPD has experts who have gone on record saying Dr. Murray's conduct did constitute gross negligence supporting manslaughter charges.
FUN FACT: Flanagan successfully repped Britney Spears in the 2007 case in which she and her mom ran over that poor celebrity news photographer's foot!

Mark McGwire Admits Steroid Use (Finally)

In news only slightly less obvious than if Jon Gosselin held a press conference to proclaim himself king of all douchebags, Mark McGwire admitted steroid use.
“I used steroids during my playing career and I apologize,” McGwire said in a statement released by his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals, to U.S. media outlets.
“I remember trying steroids very briefly in the 1989-1990 off season and then after I was injured in 1993, I used steroids again," he confessed. "I used them on occasion throughout the '90s, including during the 1998 season."
"I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish that I had never played during the steroid era.”
Mark McGwire (on Steroids)
Mark McGwire: Powered by human growth hormone milk.
McGwire said that in addition to his family, he called commissioner Bud Selig and Cardinals manager Tony La Russa earlier in the day to personally apologize.
In 1998, McGwire broke the single-season home run record held by Roger Maris.
"Big Mac" hit 70 that season, a record that stood until another player juiced out of his freaking mind, Barry Bonds, broke it in 2002 with 73 round-trippers.
The reason McGwire acknowledge the use in a statement today, he said, was because of his imminent return to professional baseball as the Cardinals hitting coach.
Called before Congress in 2005, McGwire famously said "I'm not here to talk about the past" about 79 times when asked if he used performance-enhancing drugs.
He officially claims a place among the great, tainted players of the past 10 years, including that dick Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez.

Confirmed: Simon Cowell to Leave American Idol

Earlier today, Randy Jackson said he hopes the American Idol focus soon shifts from the judging table to the singing stage.
That may be difficult after today's announcement: Simon Cowell has confirmed that he's leaving the series after this season.
At a gathering of the country's TV critics in California, Cowell said he's bringing his popular UK show The X Factor to the United States in 2011.
“We did talk about me staying on both shows, but when we looked at the practicalities of that, it was impossible,” Cowell said. “In my opinion, it’s like having a good player and a good football team. The two have to be okay together. I believe it’s not my show, but it’s still very close to me... I’m confident [American Idol] will continue to be the No. 1 show. Everyone is committed to keeping it that way.”

The X Factor is almost identical to Idol, except that groups are allowed to enter the singing competition and there's no age limit on contestants. Leona Lewis was crowned its champion one season, launching her successful career.

Lindsay Lohan Promises "Mayhem" in '10

Looks like troubled train wreck Lindsay Lohan wasn't resolving to put an end to her wild ways as she welcomed the arrival of 2010 on the posh island of St. Bart's.
In a New Year's tweet, Lohan wished her fans a "blessed new year," and said "Everyone get ready for more (but positive) LOHAN MAYHEM!!!" in the coming year.
We don't even want to know what that means.
In 2009, Linds battled estranged dad Michael, broke up with Samantha Ronson, became a complete fashion disaster, hooked up with lots of dudes and cried a lot.
If this year is anything like that, watch out!
Lohan Mayhem
MORE OF THE SAME: It's just a hunch, but somehow we imagine 2010 version of Lindsay Lohan will be a lot like the 2009 model. A very skinny, unhealthy model.
In a slightly quieter mood Saturday, the so-called actress and designer resolved "to stop letting the lucky few that have my heart, try2constantly tear me down."
Well then. That clears that up.
She continues: "2010 is about moving forward, not backwards. Leaving the bad (people, habbits, and negative energy behind) time to make changes-right!? :)"
Very well said, Lindsay. We couldn't agree more. But remember that old "habbits" (such as forgetting to put on pants or eat for weeks at a time) die hard.

Hayden Panettiere and Wladimir Klitschko: Dating?

As random celebrity couples go, Hayden Panettiere being spotted poolside in Miami with Ukrainian boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko would be pretty high up there.
Okay, it would be on top of the list.
Klitschko is 33, so he's Hayden's type. The 20-year-old previously dated her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia and British TV presenter Steve Jones, both 30-plus.
He holds the IBF, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight titles, but if Wladimir is holding Hayden Panettiere the way we think, that would be even more impressive...
Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden
Wladimir Klitschko admires the poolside scenery: Hayden Panettiere.
He's 6'6" and she's 5'1", and they might seem to have little in common, but sometimes opposites attract. That's pretty much all we've got at the moment.

Everyone Wants a Piece of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson's estate is doing pretty well these days, with the release of the album and film This Is It and the renewed interest in the late King of Pop in general. But it's also dealing with claims adding up to tens of millions. Soon enough, the list of people who claim Michael Jackson owed them money will be longer than his FBI file. Estimates are that the total claims exceed $20 million.

For starters, there's a $5 million claim from a memorabilia collector, and a $1 million claim from someone who wants a cut of Michael's epic "Thriller" music video.
Smiling Michael
Then there's a $2.3 million claim from Dr. Tohme Tohme and a $1.5 million claim from a law firm (multiple law firms are trying to claim a piece of MJ's estate).
That does not mean the estate will pay all the claims, as the executors will make that determination (and can only be overruled if a judge orders them to pay).
Among the self-proclaimed family members likely to be shut down:
  • Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson
  • Claire Elisabeth Fields Cruise
  • Billie Jean Jackson
  • Helen Harris-Scott
  • Joe Jackson
